Welcome to our school
Welcome to St Thomas’s C E Primary School, Kendal. Thank you for your interest in our school.
Our school is at the heart of the community and is a safe, welcoming and caring family community where diversity is celebrated and everyone is respected for being special and unique. The Bible verse: Teach children how they should live and they will remember it all of their life (Proverbs 22 v 6) epitomises our vision, where we strive for the best provision for all. The school promotes children’s active role in the community and in respecting their environment; they are valued and encouraged to believe in themselves, achieve their very best and succeed in an ethos where everyone develops respect for themselves, each other, God and His world. We embrace the Church of England Vision for education and have developed our vision for school around those guiding principles.
If you have any questions or would like to visit our school to find out even more then please do not hesitate to contact me.

We strive to create an atmosphere where everyone feels a part of and takes a pride in our school.
We achieve this by having high expectations of each other and ourselves. Situated on the edge of Kendal Green, we are fortunate to have wonderful grounds and facilities which are used extensively to enrich the curriculum.
However, the real strength of St Thomas’s lies in the people who make up our school family: Parents, governors, staff, parishioners and partner school in Halifax, but above all our wonderful children, all contribute, playing their part to make our school a happy place where everyone can achieve.
St Thomas's is a single entry Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School on the edge of the Lake District, in beautiful surroundings on the north edge of Kendal.
We admit 30 pupils per year into Reception class. This is in line with the Government's class size limitations for infants. We can admit up to 34 pupils into junior classes.
The school building was purpose built in the 1960s and we work continually to develop and improve the learning environment for the children. Our hall is used for collective worship, PE, social events and acts as a dining area at lunch time. We have a selection of learning spaces which provide small group and individual work areas, in addition to our spacious classrooms, music room and ICT suite.
